How to set the Headphone Controls?

I know certain music player apps can set the headphone controls to pause/skip songs etc. Is it possible to set this button for the default media player? By default, pressing it brings up voice commands.

when I tap mine, it pauses, when i hold it, it puts it on party shuffle, thats it, no other button combinations work, I have no idea how to fix it.
oh this is on the Droid.

Moto seems to have disabled them, I shot them an e-mail but never got a response.

The only way is to get an app called "Droid Shuffle" from the app store, it gives all sorts of functions to the button, though the only one that really works with any certainty is play/pause.
