How to stop activating voice by mistake on the swype keyboard?

I absolutely hate the microphone on the swype keyboard. In campsite mode it doesn't bother me nearly as much as portrait but I hit it by mistake so often it us driving me mad. Is there a way to get around it without installing a third-party keyboard (which I've read are pretty buggy)?

I also wish there were left and right arrows easily to get to on the main keyboard but the mic is a bigger problem for me.

Can I assume you have one of the newer phones which have Swype built-in? I have the Swype beta and one of the biggest complaints I hear is about the lack of a microphone button. I guess there are always two sides to any story. Maybe you can email the developer with your suggestions. They have been pretty responsive during the beta.

Interesting, I have not hit it as of yet. And the way I fat finger stuff, I'm surprised.

I feel your pain-I hate the microphone. I enjoy swype but the button is very irritating in portrait. I probably hit it accidentally every other message. Poor location.
