Do you guys remember when HP launched the HP Touchpad a few years ago? We even had a website for it at one time. One of the most intriguing things about the device was that it was only $99 bucks for a limited time when HP decided to eliminate inventory. People snapped it up in droves. We doubt that will happen with HP's newest $100 dollar tablet, but it still should see a decent measure of success.

HP just announced their HP 7 Plus Android tablet for only $99.99. Here's a spec breakdown:
  • 7-inch 1,024×600 touchscreen
  • 1 GHz quad-core processor (with ARM Cortex-A7 cores)
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 8 GB of internal storage
  • A microSD card slot
  • 2 MP rear camera
  • 0.3 MP front camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11n
  • 2,800 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
As you can see, it isn't going to be winning any awards for extreme performance, but that's obviously not its target market. At just 100 clams, this could be a decent value proposition for those looking to replace an aging early gen Android tablet. I wonder if HP can rekindle that magic they briefly had with the HP Touchpad...

Good price. Parents will buy these for their kids. Good stocking stuffers on xmas.

Interesting competition for the Hisense Sero7 Pro for a lot less money, (but a with a slightly lower resolution screen).
Will be fun to see if gets attention from the Developer community.

I picked up the HP Slate 7 Plus 4200 for $120 after price match from Best Buy for my 4yr old Daughter. It has the Tegra 3 and 1280 x 800 display. It is perfect for a young child. Wish i could get a nice rugged case for it though. No issues so far.

Not bad for the additional $20.
