All of our European forum members have a unique opportunity to potentially snag one of HP's new Slate 7 Android tablets. The tablet just went up for pre-order on the French retailer site, rueducommerce. The preorder for the tab is just €149, ($170 USD). It might be a decent bang-for-you-buck tablet. Here's a spec-list:
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 7 inch display (1024 x 600 pixels)
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Beats Audio
  • HP ePrint app
  • 3MP rear camera with 720p video recording
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 1GB of RAM
  • Dual-core 1.6GHz processor
  • 8GB of internal storage memory
  • Micro SD card support (up to 32GB)

What do you guys think of this one... is it worth a second look?

The device looks very attractive, supports SD cards, and comes with HP ePrint, however the lack of an HD screen and OK processor let's me still hold googly eyes for the Nexus 10 (or competing device Nexus 7).

I would however wait a few months after it comes out and snag it in a fire sail for 99 dollars when HP drops tablets again. ;)
