HTC Droid Locked

We just purchased new Verizon Wireless HTC Droid's. My son helped the account rep set up the google accounts so I dont know either username or password. My son downloaded the pattern security lock software on his phone. His friend tried to guess the pattern and locked the phone. Now it is asking for the google account which he does not remember. Can someone tell me how to unlock the phone?

EDIT: I posted thinking you meant "the" Droid. I have no clue how to reset the Eris you likely have. It does have a way to hard reset, I do know that. Anyone with an Eris...help?

This problem has come up before and someone gave a method of getting by the lock. I think it had to do with resetting the phone or something like it.

Do not worry, it is possible.

Can u go to google.com and try to sign in then hit forgot password?
