HTC CEO Peter Chou said the smartphone vendor plans to release a phone for LTE networks sometime next year. He did not comment any further on when, where or what kind of device it will be.

So there you have it. Verizon Wireless users can now rule out any LTE device coming from the manufacturer this year.

Which begs the question. With VZW launching LTE into 25-30 markets by years end does this leave the door open for the Motorola "Superphone"/T2 being the first LTE device?

So with LTE on the horizon are carriers going to start charging a premium like sprint did with the $10 wimax service, on another note, if that BGR HTC phone comes out this year well that pretty much closes out any chance of it getting LTE, gosh darn it

Yep, that's a disappointment. Now we can only hope that this phantom Motorola T2 will come into fruition.

I thought for sure HTC would beat Motorola to the punch for the first LTE phone on verizon....they already using 4G chips in the EVO and Epic...
