Here's a new HTC rumor for you guys today. This one is apparently about their first smartwatch, internally codenamed the “HTC Petra.” Not only do we have a detailed leak of specs for the device, we also have intel that HTC will supposedly not be using Android Wear as their OS of choice for the smartwatch. They are supposedly developing something called “RTOS" which may or may not be based on Android at all.
According to the report, the reason that HTC doesn't want to choose Android Wear is because they want their smartwatch to be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. That may not be too bad of a move on HTC's part.
Here's the list of leaked specs:
- 1.8-inch flexible display
- ST Micro 32L151 Cortex-M3 chipset
- Bluetooth and GPS
- More than 3 days of battery life
- IP57 certification for water and dust resistance
- MIL-SPEC rating of 810G
It would appear that HTC will be focusing on the fitness/active lifestyle angle for this device. The rumor indicates a Q1 2015 launch date for the watch. What do you guys think of this potential HTC wearable device?
