According to new reports, the Huawei Ascend D Quad-Core phone that we heard teased back in February will finally be hitting store shelves later this month. For now it will only launch in China, and we have not been given any info regarding an international release. Still, it's interesting to take note of how quickly quad-core phones are starting to pop-up. Just earlier in the week we shared some info regarding a new quad-core device coming to China called the Xiaomi Mi2.

There are some differences between these devices. For one, the Huawei is using a custom designed quad-core chip, versus the quad-core Snapdragon S4 in the Xiaomi Mi2. Also, this phone from Huawei will have 1GB of RAM compared to the Xiaomi Mi2's 2GB of RAM. Finally, the Ascend D will be selling for 2,999 RMB ($470), which is about 1,000 RMB more than the Xiaomi Mi2. Effectively, the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi2 stole all the thunder out of the release of the Ascend D. Huawei needed to release this phone sooner, but for now, they should consider dropping the price to get more competitive.
