Hello fellow Droid users,

I just picked up a first generation Droid a week ago. I am very interested in computers and music. So far I love my droid but I'm learning so much about it every day that my love is continuing to grow haha.

Hope to chat with you all soon.

Okay so I've done some browsing on this site mainly from my phone and I haven't found an advanced search option. Maybe I could access it from desktop mode in the browser? Anyway I have a few questions and wanted to see if someone could just direct me to links from the site rather than asking the questions and having them explained on this thread.

So here's a few questions I have:

Are you able to over clock a droid1 with out rooting it?
How frequent should I have my auto kill set on advanced task manager?
Am I able to remove factory programs with out rooting my droid?
As far as security tips what would you recomend doing to keep my droid as clean as possible/ is it possible to get root kits embedded into your droid from apps that you obtain from the android market?

Well thanks for the answers/thread re-directs in advance!

no, you can't (at least not that i'm aware of).

How frequent should I have my auto kill set on advanced task manager?

i don't use any task manager or task killer - they tend to work against the android os.

Am I able to remove factory programs with out rooting my droid?

not that i'm aware of.

don't know the answer to that one...

for just about all of these issues, rooting is about your only option. hope this helps! :)

Welcome Husky!

To answer your questions:

Are you able to over clock a droid1 with out rooting it?
No

How frequent should I have my auto kill set on advanced task manager?
Get rid of it. It's horrendous for the device.

Am I able to remove factory programs with out rooting my droid?
No

As far as security tips what would you recomend doing to keep my droid as clean as possible/ is it possible to get root kits embedded into your droid from apps that you obtain from the android market?
Android is very secure, no need for anti-virus or any other "security" software.
Find me a viable virus and/or malicious app that has been released on Android and I will take that back : )

Oh and btw, is there an advanced search feature on the DF app?

So if you have a pattern lock on your phone does it waste battery? I have a 30 sec time out

okay so i just rooted my droid1 with motocache1's amazing guide. What's the deal about the OTA flashing into recovery mode? Is there a program that I need to install to keep my phone from flashing into recovery mode?

Thanks for the help,

Husky
