I need help Rooting and Moving to Gingerbread

I have a Thunderbolt. This is my second one. I tried to root and upgrade to gingerbread and bricked it. I had no issues with my OD or D2 but this one is an enigma. If any of the senior members would be willing to help I would be eternally grateful.

what method of rooting are you using?

It is not so much the root as it is the upgrade to gingerbread. I can root using auto root but struggle with the upgrade. I tried it on my original thunderbolt and bricked it.
