Alright so I rooted my droid 2 that I got 48 hours ago and I also did a software update this morning. I lost my root what should I do? And what should I do?

I know im dumb

Yes... root it again, and while you are at it install Bootstrap. Then go in and make a backup of your system in case you need it in the future.

Congrats on your new phone!

(Of course I would read up about all of this so you are comfortable in what you are doing. But there is plenty of help if you ever need it.)

Thanks, I got it now. What are some good aps to have when rooted. I already read one of the threads with a list but any personal suggestions?

An app to take screenshots, Barnacle tethering (if you need to do that), a terminal emulator (if you like to use the command line).
I like barnacle for the access control.

I have no interest in custom roms, I may look into backups but never have with any of my previous smart phones.

Cool apps for root... there are many, but if you have no interest in loading a fresh rom that would rule out some of them.... but here are a few:

Titanium backup, with it you can back up your apps, messages, data, and freeze the bloatware so you don't have so many apps that you will never use. It doesn't delete them, it just freezes them so they don't boot up and show in your app drawer. You can always unfreeze them.

Cachemate, to clear your caches

Droid X/2 Overclock, you can now overclock your phone! This app also has many added features including the ability to clear your cache and more... check this out!

I agree, get terminal emulator and a wi fi tethering app. Either WiFi tether for root users or Barnicle.

You don't need root for this but get "LauncherPro"!

Have fun!

Avon Lake, we're practically right next door. I'm in Elyria.

Not only do we live nearby, but we both have good taste in phones! If that is a picture of you it looks like you work out. I also work out 5 days a week at the new Y but don't look like that... :)

Yeah it's me. I workout 5 days a week too usually. Lots of lifting, protein shakes, and creatine. Got sick a while back, cold, sinus infection, then a 2nd sinus infection. Couldn't eat, lost about 20 lbs. I'll get it back though.

Lost 20lbs... crap. I drink a protein shake after every workout and take creatine before every workout... lol It really messes things up when you miss some workout time. I missed a whole week a while back due to emergency work and it took me 2 weeks just to catch back up. I know you will recover, just take it a bit easier at first.
