Not from scratch mind you, but if you have a video (file or Youtube) that you want a clip made into a boot animation I would be willing to do it in my spare time.

Also, I could make you a matching directory for the LWP live wallpaper (available on the Market and it is not mine).

NOTE: Root is required for my bootanimations but anyone can use the live wallpapers.

ok i found a 11 second video...i dont know if u can actually make it longer so it lasts through the whole boot process by starting it over and over or how that works let me know... i cant find anything else better on you tube so i figured id go with it..i havent decided about the mp3 part yet but i guess this is a start for the actual animation....unless u need all that at one time? cause i kinda want the actual sound that is in the video and towards the end before boot up i want the doll laugh...how hard will that be?

The nature of the video makes it real easy to loop it indefinitely. The problem would be the laugh since everything is hard coded in regards to time. I'll have to play with it on my phone to work out the timing.

An idea I have is to loop it a few times to get close to boot and then go black and that's when the laugh plays.

Yeah, that way it's exactly the laugh you want. Depending on how the timing falls, I may decide to loop the laugh until boot as well. I'll have to see how it turns out. Anyhow, keep that in mind when picking your laugh track. If you don't want the looping laugh (not sure I would in case of spontaneous reboots), just let me know.

Would itbe possible to create the stock droid 3 boot animation into a live wallpaper for a non rooted phone? I would love that

Should be pretty easy to do. I could probably include the scanning animation every few seconds too. I'll start on it once I'm done with the Saw bootanimation.

BUT you have to download LWP off the Android Market first. All I'll really be doing is setting up the folder of images in the correct sequence and syntax for the LWP app to work.

I am coming up on the end of the process for the Saw boot. Turns out it will only run about once before the boot is complete so it should run almost one full time and then go black and then start laughing (added a slight pause for effect).

Gotta meet my buddy at the gym here in about 15 minutes, but hopefully I can finish this tonight. If not, I'll definitely have it done by roughly 6:00 EST if nothing happens.

Okay well thanks, I really look foward to it

The Droid 3 eye wallpaper sequence is finished.

Droid 3 Eye.zip

Included in the zip folder are a readme which gives basic instructions for "installation" as well as a 30 second video walkthrough.

If you have any problems, just let me know. The animation worked on my phone (it's still set as my wallpaper actually), but there could have been an issue when I packed it for upload.

Oh yeah, for your particular animation, the original fps was 15, but you can change that in LWP to make it faster or slower. Slower than 15 fps though looks choppy so I wouldn't go lower than that
EDIT: Played around with it and I personally think it looks better at 20 fps, but it's ultimately up to you.

EDIT: If anybody else comes through and wants to use this as well, note that a rooted user can place this in the /system/media/ folder and uncheck the "file on SD card" option to find it in root. This prevents the screen from giving you that message when connected to the PC or when the SD card or internal memory are being mounted.

As for Jigsaw, getting close. The visuals are right there. Just need to modify the speed a hair and add a second loop. Audio on the other hand is going to be held up until tonight since I don't have the necessary software to set up the loop at work. Should only take about 30 minutes once I get home tonight though so 6:00 should still be about right.

Here is a version of the Jigsaw Boot for you to look at and give your opinion on. Let me know if and how you would want anything changed.

Jigsaw Bootanimation v0.8

I tried an alternative way to get the audio to loop. It got the product out faster, but I MIGHT can do a better job with it by adding a loop to the .ogg file.

Ultimately, using extensive sounds with a bootanimation does pose some syncing problems. The bootanimations do not run the same speed all the time and they rarely run in sync with the audio files. That's why with my Droid/Sonic one I used just the basic Droid sound once. If it was slightly off in timing it wasn't a big deal since it really didn't need to sync to a particular moment anyhow.

Regardless, that's what I have for now and when I get home tonight I will be making previews of both the bootanimation and the Droid 3 Eye wallpaper so everybody can see how they turned out without having to install them.

Just gotta say wow, its amazing I have the boot screen live wallpaper and its amazing. I love it so much I would've paid for it. You should make live wallpaper apps and sell them, boot animations for all the droids, you'd make a killer.
