Icoming texts cut off?

I know that Verizon is CDMA and that they have a limit, but I thought that incoming texts were supposed to be able to be longer, or at least sent in batches like outgoing texts are. I have handcent and I get texts from my bank every day telling me my balance, but it just cuts off before it can even tell me how much I have. Is there any way around this?

As in what carrier my bank is using? Would they even be using one?
