Hey guys,

So ever since I got ICS on my phone, it's been running hottt and not charging correctly.

I've taken really good care of this phone, so I don't suspect a hardware issue.

Ideally, I'd just like to get back on Gingerbread.

So my question is, if I do a factory reset, will that reset it back to Gingerbread (like how I got it in the box)
OR since it has the new upgrade, will it fac reset in ICS? (which would SUCK.)

Help?

Sorry to hear about your Droid 4 not working well, let's see if we can't fix that.

The bad news is there's no going back to Gingerbread now. Performing a factory reset will leave you still on ICS. The locked bootloader prevents us from flashing kernels, so there's no possible way to get back to GB. Don't try to fastboot or sbf back to it either, you'll brick your phone.

The good news is that ICS for the Droid 4 is actually quite good. I highly recommend you perform a factory reset. Trying to take a device from android 2.x to 4.x while maintaining the same data is difficult, and often it leads to problems. You'll find many threads of users claiming to be experiencing ICS error and they hate it. Performing a factory reset will clear out all your old GB data and allow a "fresh" ICS to run on your phone. Give that a try, I guarantee you'll find it working better.

Ahhh!!! Just as I thought, tricky tricky!

Alrighty then, I'm gonna save all my stuff and try the factory reset! :D

*Crosses fingers* thanks!!!!

The d4 is very similar to the razr...I know it sounds stupid... but since you have your data saved any way.. try doing two FDR's in a row.. it has helped people with razrs.

I know its supposedly a waste of time, but I know it works on razrs. You might try it.

Before you do though... download an app like gsam. Use the app sucker feature to see if its just a runaway app that's got your processor using cycles constantly.

And it will also tell you how hot the device is getting. The ti omap is a hot running processor...check this out if you haven't seen it before
