[h=2]ICS on the D2G![/h]
Now that I've gotten your attention, I have to tell you guys about an app I found tonight while looking up the different things I could find on market. This whole Screenshot app got me thinking about redoing my home screen, and I was looking for some possible ICS themes, and I found something much much better. There is an actual launcher that is not only themed to ICS, but actually is a functioning ICS version of a launcher. I has the home keys, and the back button, and the tabs button, and they all WORK! This home replacement is one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time! Granted this is a new release, so they are still working out the bugs in it, but this thing is probably the closest you will get to having ICS on your phone right now. I'm running it now, and I can honestly say it's not the absolute best launcher I have ever run, there are some minor bugs, like the notification bar is a little messed up, but it's a whole new look at what ICS will look like.

Here is the market link to the app. Let me know what you guys think! And please contact this dev with any ideas/bugs you have, as I think this could be a really fantastic launcher for those of use who wont have the full ICS any time soon!

PS: I'm not some kind of paid spokesman or anything like that, I just found a pretty cool app and wanted to give a shout out!

I'm so cool my Ringtones include: Final Countdown, Cotton Eyed Joe, and Get Ready For This!

Thumbs down for the title. Its gonna be unlikely that we will get the ICS update. 1.2 Ghz single core processor with 512ram... unlikely at best. MAYBE since the D3 is getting it, we could potentially maybe somehow port it.

I've had this launcher for a while, and while it has its flaws its definately headed in the right direction with software buttons and the apps carousel!

what is your source? im curious? i wanna read the article

I'm sorry, I cannot find where I saw the particular list, but it was basically comparing the D2G with the D3 and stating the fact that D3 is similar to the Bionic and Atrix 2, that the D2G would most likely also see the upgrade. It did also mention that the D2 would not, which I didn't quite understand. I will keep looking for the article when I get back tonight or tomorrow. I may be wrong on this, but I know I saw it, just don't hold me to it, because I cannot find where I saw it although I do believe it was on CNET.COM. I don't want to get your hopes up, but regardless, if it isn't released to the D2G, it will most likely definitely be ported. . . again, I'll keep looking for that article.

I also find the timing of the Gingerbread update on the D2 lineup interesting, with the release of ICS imminent, and the fact that google said any phone running gingerbread should be able to run ICS kind of intriguing.

Ive seen some "wishlists" on various websites, but nothing worth really mentioning. It would be nice to have it thats for damn sure

I'm stuck with the D2G until i get more money! or i scrounge up some change and get a different phone. got this on an upgrade... kinda weird story. Used to be on T-mobile, had the G1, went to the CLIQ.. . BIG MISTAKE. had them for a year, after that, girlfriend wanted to save money, sold CLIQ for like 50, payed off T-mobile, got on Verizon with a family plan and this phone was the one for me, it was a Christmas present :) its been great, but sadly, since Android phones are released so damn quick, this phone became out-dated within a few months. it was king for a few months LOLZ. I might get a DX or a DX2 for my main, then use the D2G for WIFI and all that fun stuff

Funny thing is, I got the GB update before I got the bionic and almost hesitated on the bionic because I thought the GB update made my D2G like a whole new phone.

And if you use it for wifi, don't let your 6 year old nephew play games on it. I already got $12 racked up on play items he thought he was using gold he earned in game. Luckily I was able to get it all refunded, well all except $1.99 ...lol

I wanted the Bionic, but I decided against it. I'm not a big fan of Moto, I've had a thing for HTC my girlfriend had the Eris, and the UI was nice. I dont mind Samsungs, other than the download cap the have of 30 megs per file

Well for what it's worth, I love the Bionic, but if the Bionic wasn't in the picture, I would take the rezound over the razr or the nexus...

Yeah, this is what I had read as well... It's not as big of a backend code overhaul resourcewise as froyo->gb was... it's more features than underlying code...

Ice Cream Sandwich is a huge overhaul. You should probably remember that it's the branch that has Gingerbread and Honeycomb merged. There are a lot of changes in the API, as well as in the entire framework.

That said, it should not really affect anything related to older devices running it. Any device that runs 2.1 should be able to run 2.3 and 4.0… unless that said device doesn't have enough internal memory space.
