If and when VZ releases Froyo!!!

Three related questions:
1. Will VZ push the upgrade or will we need to pull it?
2. If we dislike the outcome, will we be able to easily revert to 2.1?
3. Will the currently available manually rooted versions of Froyo still be available as alternatives to VZ's 2.2?
(I am particularly concerned about any surprises related to disabled tethering)

I doubt tethering will be outright disabled since they apparently added the tethering plan for the Droid recently.
