I'm new and need help

hi i have a motorola droid and need help with making it faster
where do i start

welcome to the forum. when u say faster r u referring to the processor speed? or is it ur apps, phone is running slow?

Do a factory reset.. That is if your not rooted and don't want to root.

You need to root to really make a difference in speed IMO. then you may overclock your cpu, remove bloatware (preinstalled apps etc..) and flash roms. Happy to help if you need it. If you don't want to root, a hard (factory) reset may help. Changing the launcher will make your home screen much much snappier. I use launcher pro but there is also adw launcher (and others) for you to choose from

Your in the tight place. There are tons of root threads for beginners and tons of video on youtube to research. If it still seems to difficult, maybe it's not the best idea (that shouldn't happen though as there are one click apps that do the work for you. All im saying is do the research. We are all here to help though so ask questions!

before anyone suggests root, u need to know what it is, what it does, and how it works. one should never suggest as it does not fix all issues with ur phone. here are a few helpful links to get u started. I strongly suggest u read thoroughly thru the process and always have a back up

That's what I meant by threads and videos. There he will learn what it is and be able to make an educated decision. I wouldn't haphazardly tell someone to root without them being fully educated on the topic.
