I'm new to DROID but not new to the technology.
I retired from U S WEST in 1990. I had several different assignments during my tenure. As a Central Office Engineer with Western Electric, I was involved with the engineering and provisioning of the first cellular radio offices. Those were analog not digital.
An interesting point here would be to point out that "Cellular - Cell" term came from the maps that showed the actual 30 mile radius.
A round circle didn't look clear or neet. So the maps were drawn using a 6 sided template. The end result wound up looking like a bee hive. We called those "Cells". Just a little trivia.
Another part of my career involved being a UNIX system administrator. Other trivia would fit in here.
To wrap things up, this is going to be fun.
