I am coming from the DROID Bionic and would like to know how to use it. What are the drawbacks for the RAZR and are there any updates

There is a soak test going around but i wouldn't recommend participating in it. Drawbacks are its not the best screen out there but it still looks good. Rapes battery's. And lots of bloat ware. Like any phone. I'd highly recommend rooting it. Getting titanium back up and freezing bloat ware. Along with rooting you can get cool useful apps along with apps tgat help manage your battery life. And freezing bloat ware will also help.there are no custom roms for it yet:( if you plan on using hot spot rooting will allow you to do it for free. With some mods to the reg. The phones battery is really a draw back at first butnyou eventually learn to manage it nicely. The keyboard is awesome :D better then swift keys. Personal opinion. I keep my 4g off most of the day and use wifi whenever its available. Along with freezing bloatware and CPU tuner. My battery last from 12 to 15 hours. And no live wallpapers. And dont use motocast. I'd recomemnd Google music.

Here are a couple reviews for you. Don't get too hung up on some of the opinionated dialogue, just compare the features and draw your own conclusion. I have heard good things about the Bionic, and honestly I was read to pull the Bionic trigger, then the RAZR was announced, and I held off to get it. I am VERY happy I did, not because I believe it is worlds better than the bionic, but I do like far better some of the biggest selling features of the RAZR.

You may feel differently but that's why people are given choices.

Update apparently addresses some issues with the 4G LTE, and switching from WIFI to 3G to 4G while losing data for some. It also addresses the camera (at least from the lock screen) and apparently allows it to appear faster and may also enhance some actual photo-taking aspects such as shutter response time. Other than that, I am not sure. I am frankly not even sure of the items I mentioned, but that's what people are comparing when contrasting before update and after. Go to [OTA] *Rootable* Blur_Version.6.11.744.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip @@UPDATED - xda-developers for more information.

Thanks for all the links. But why include one with the ipoop 4sh*t. lol. I am really looking at the ones that put it against the DROID Bionic since I am obviously coming from it. Again thanks for the help. Great peers on this forum.

As far as the soak test update. It didn't do **** for data issues. As of right now I have no data at all. I tried rebooting several times, toggling airplane mode and still nothing. So if your looking for more reliable data than the bionic then you'll be in the same boat. But there are other features of the razor that are good. The keyboard is great. And the screen to me looks great.

Gotta tell ya, I've had data since day one (back at the beginning of Dec.), and have never had an issue with connectivity. There may be a few people out there (including this poster), who are experiencing problems, but I have no indication that it is widespread.

Updated information... This is what the update is supposed to address.

  • SIM error notification has been fixed
  • Improved camera features and quality
  • Improved stability of menu access, browser, phone dialer, video playback and music player to prevent force-close errors and lockups
  • Updated group message notification in e-mail
  • Improvement in 3G/4G data connectivity
  • Maintain network connection upon completion of a voiec call
  • Background color has been adjusted to improve readability in Lapdock connection UI menu items.

Funny, my Verizon FIOS set top box just rebooted on its own. I wonder if it's not just the Wireless side that's having problems, but the entire network! Let's hope it's fixed right quick. For the record, I have data now and have not lost it once tonight, so maybe it's just a problem in pockets around the country.

Don't listen to tell poster about battery life. With Smart Actions, included app, I routinely get 12 hours and 18+ with moderate to light use. Many others around get the same battery life.
