IMAP Email notification delayed

Hello all,

I am really hoping someone may have a good answer for me here, as I personally own a Motorola Droid (and love it) and I am trying to get all of our BlackBerry devices in the office I manage replaced with Droids. My device of preference is the Motorola Droid.

Before making that plunge (even though all the people here are supporting it) I need to confirm that the Droid will at least offer everything that the Blackberries do for us, which is solely mobile email. The issue I am having in evaluating the case on my personal device is that I found using IMAP email the delivery/notification is rather delayed. I have it configured to refresh every 5 minutes, but still I can send an email to my address, and the Blackberry receives it in a minute or less, while the Droid is taking 20 minutes or more.

I would really like to see if this can be improved, because I really want to get rid of these Blackberries and get Droids in here. Unfortunately though this sort of delay is not acceptable for the users that are high level managers. If I exaplin to them that the email functionality on the Droid is not quite comparable to the Blackberry, then they will say there is no need to switch. Even though the Droid offers far more value to us in many other ways, the primary function of our business smart phones is mobile email, so if this is not comparable then that will kill my chance of upgrading.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
