Inconsistent black levels in low ambient light, and low screen brightness settings

So this has been an issue I've noticed since i got my d-razr on Thursday. When there is a large black area on the screen there are splotchy parts that are blacker than the other parts. The easiest way i have found to reproduce this is to make your background black and go to a page with no widgets or icons, then go into a dark room(ie bathroom). I can then see many spots of areas of darker blacks and spots with greyer blacks. Does everybody else have this problem? I'm wondering if i should take it in for an exchange. This is my first OLED display so maybe it's just the nature of the display. However, for 3bones i would expect better quality.

Same problem took a picture while covering camera so it was black. I see what you mean

I have them too. Exchanged and I have the same thing. I think it's defective screens, but I hope not.

Same here... noticed this a few days ago. I'm going to exchange and see if the replacement is any better...

I had the same issue...at first, Verizon told me they couldnt' do anything, when i pressed them that since i would have the phone for two years, i did not want a defect only a few days in..they told me to bring all my paperwork in and return the phone, and just buy a new one.

Then new one did not have the lines. must be some sort of issue with the displays, I am glad i am not alone, i was thinking i was going crazy!

Added bonus, since i preordered and paid $300, they told me that buying in the store, I was eligible for a $50 credit because of my corporate discount..:icon_ banana:

i got mine replaced yesterday. the new one doesn't have the problem as bad as my first one...however this one has two stuck pixels! i tried to exchange this one this morning but they said they couldn't see the stuck pixels. i have found a dead pixel app that shows colors on the screen that make the problem pixels pop better and i might grab a magnifying glass to bring into a different corporate store...i really don't want to be stuck with this for 2 years.

my theory on the black stripes we are seeing is the inconsistency in the lamination of the screen to the front glass as the two are now laminated together per ifixit. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Droid-RAZR-Teardown/7048/3

I have the same issue with the screen. Verizon rep said it happened on older Droid models and not to worry about it. Its been a week or so and I have no problems with my screen. Worth it to go and get a replacement?

if there aren't big splotches on the screen but just little stripes i wouldn't bother. you'll just get another with the same thing.

I've got blotches but the rep said he couldn't see them. I figure, its got a year warranty so any problems should arise within that time.
