Incredible vs Moto Droid 1

I plan on upgrading to a HTC Incredible next week from a D1 and wanted to know if that's smart. I know that D1 has alot of hacks and development on its forum and the Incredible doesnt' have that much. I want to know that "eventually" will the Incredible have as much ROMS and hacks then D1 in the near future or what? I mean do yall at least have wireless tethering, a technique to use if you brick your phone, or even Lithmod? Thanks
