It certainly takes Chipzilla a long time to turn their big butt around to attack a new market with technology, but when they do they really annihilate it. A new AnTuTu benchmark from Intel's BayTrail mobile architecture completely decimates the top dog processors from ARM and Samsung. As you can see, the BayTrail scored a ridiculous 43416 on AnTuTu. This is over 10,000 points higher than the current flagship ARM leader, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

What is even more impressive is that this Intel Bay Trail chip is only running at 1.1GHz to do it, which likely means reduced heat and greater power efficiency. Compare that to the Snapdragon 800 which typically runs between 2-2.3GHz and we have one beastly chip! It gets better too. Supposedly, the final launch hardware for BayTrail is likely to come clocked at about 2.1GHz.

It's hard to imagine what kind of performance numbers we will see from the chip when its clock speed is ratcheted up by nearly double!

This was most likely all CPU testing, not GPU

I'll bet the Snapdragon 800 will beat the intel by at least as much on GPU tests and intel did on CPU tests. Intel has always had terrible mobile/integrated GPU's. While they have gotten better I'd be surprised if they're anywhere close to the Adreno 330. Even if all else is equal there will be compatibility problems with intel on Android since Android apps are compiled and optimized for ARM, not x86.

Throw in the XMM-7160 LTE chip and this looks to be quite promising. Excited for the future...

There was a time, back in the dark ages, when it was all about GHz, then it was about cores and GHz, neither has made nearly as much difference as the underlying technology of the processor.
