Is there a way I can make the default place to store data the internal storage? As if I didn't even have an sd card?

If you are rooted then yes, you can make the internal storage the default.

You can dl the app d2 overclock. In the extras section there is an app to sd section. From there you can set the default to be internal. Better yet though, go to the market and dl an app to sd app for root users that allows you to move everything already on your sd to the internal storage

Move2sd enabler is the name of the app. Get the free version. Enjoy
