Intro to me

I have a Moto Droid.. 2.1 update1.. Build ESE81
I have flashed to sbf (or is it p?lol) recovery..
I want to root my phone but not having any luck finding the sd card on my pc.. I have a Mac using OSX but also have windows xp pro on it..
I have no idea where to look for my sdcard.. and when i plug my phone in to connect to it it says no program?
I want to do this SOOO bad.. y'all know.. im sure you were here once also.. lol..
So this is me... lost and confused..

Plug in your computer and phone with the USb connection. On your phone, click on the Notifications, click on the USB connection, then click mount.

After that your phone should show up as a drive on your computer
