Iphone chat

All of my friends use this Iphone chat or something and I am constantly bombarded with these messages all day and they are never in order and I constantly have to download them to read. Also, every time I send a message back it only goes to the person I respond to. Basically I am odd man out of the chat. Since these bigots refuse to use the Igochat or Whatsapp I am left on the outside unless I do the unthinkable and buy an IPhone. Is there any way I can separate the chat from regular text messages and become part of the chat.

It's an Apple feature called iMessage. It gets really annoying because you can see everyone else's message, but your text only goes back to the original sender.
