iPhone refugee questions.

I finally broke away from the shackles of Apple and AT&T. For the most part I love my Droid X. However, I have two issues that I can seem to manage on my own.

1) My GMail account sounds the notification whenever there is a new email- but my bellsouth.net account doesn't. Is there some setting I'm missing?

2) Is there some way to get SMS messages on the locked screen so I don't have to unlock it just to read a txt?

Thanks very much for your help!

1) I think you should be able to go into the settings on your email and enable notifications
2) Text on the locked screen....if you can find an app that has a text widget...not sure which one. You could use widget locker which will allow you to deck out your lock screen as you would any other screen with widgets. Also for pop-ups and quick replies to text use handcent sms
