Irritated w/phone

I got the Droid X yesterday and love it, for the most part. The only problem, is that I can't receive or send calls the majority of the time. And it's not a matter of not getting reception, because I can be in the same room as a person with a Droid X and they can call me. I took it into Verizon and they said to do a soft re-boot and take out the battery. That worked for about 5 minutes of being able to send/receive calls and even with that it dropped a couple calls. Is anyone else having issues with the "phone" function of the phone>?

ask for a replacement? no issues here... phone works great simultaneous with navigation and kicking into various media sessions even...
