Is it just me, or battery life?

I don't know if it's just me, but my battery life has been pretty terrible today. I don't know if this is because of what some crazy apps are doing or what?
When I got down to 5% after only about 5 hours.... I made sure to check my battery usage. It said that 69% was Cell standby. WHAT? Normally that's about 5% or so? Display was only 20%.... And trust me... I was using the display to the point where it should have been at least 50% on its own. I'm using the now built-in overclocking mechanism and have it set at 1Ghz max.... I was using SetCPU before at 800Mhz. Don't know if that would affect it so much. I'm really very curious about the cell standby power usage, though. Does anybody have any ideas for why this is so ridiculously high?

I've never done that before. Why would it make a difference now when it never did before? Trying it anyway, since you told me to, though. XD

THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE.
Sorry. I'm a bit dense.
I was definitely in a basement where I get no reception for choir. I was really wondering why it went down about 30% while being asleep the whole time.
So... Now that I did *228, will this fix it so that it doesn't die in the basement in the future?

*228 option 2 or *22899 updates ur prls for roaming. which basically makes sure you get the best signal and reception to the nearest towers and such. so it can cause your phone to work 100% harder to find signal to stay on 3g and stuff.

No, if you're in an area with no reception the cell phone will use as much power as it can to get a signal out. *228 only connects you to the closest towers. When in the basement or another bad signal area your phone will eat that battery up very quickly.

Personally I live in a house that is a signal dead zone so I just use wi-fi for internet but the battery still goes down faster because it's always trying to get that signal.

So... How do I get it to not eat battery when in the basement? I swear it didn't do this before I installed 1.0.0. Do I just need to turn it off before I go down there?

I am seeing less time inbetween charges. I hear several people phone are. Running the fastest they have ever ran. Mine is slightly slower and has less memory avaliable. Might try a new kernal to see what that does.

I've been using slayher's 1.25 kernel interactive 250-800 when in use and 125-250 in standby, and i've been seeing the best battery life i have ever seen on my phone with UDFE 8.0 and UD 1.0.0

P.S.-- when you go into a basement go airplane mode!

i think its just you cause i have to go into an all metal room when i go to my choir class and i still get good battery life(it could also be cause i put my phone into airplane mode)
but i get even better battery life on UD 1.0.0
