Is there a description of how to make an update.zip?

Is there a breakdown of what all the files/scripts/certs needed to create an update.zip style zip that you can run from clockwork recovery? I have figured out a bunch of the scripting, but the certs make me hesitant.

I just take one that I know works, and replace the files that I want to change.
