Is there a way to limit the audio notifications?

I got a new Droid X2 recently and have an issue with notifications for email. Upon receipt of an email I get my audio notification which is good, but it continues to sound again and again and again until I manually turn it off. Is there a way to set the number of times it sends the audio notification, before it stops on it's own? I'd like to be able to set it to one or two.

It's only supposed to sound once...did you accidentally download and select a long ringtone or something like that and use it as a notification?

No, I'm using the nanobots ringtone that came with the phone.
