Is there a way to mirror HDMI?

I know the Droid X2 can HDMI mirror. Is there any way to do this. Is it a hardware limitation or software that a GB rip from the X2 can fix?

If I remember correctly way back the creator of realhdmi said it was a hardware limitation, so No unfortunatly
