Would it be possible to flash the d2 kernel onto the d2g? I assume it isn't possible because of the locked bootloader, but I wasn't sure since both kernels would be by motorola. Sorry if this is a stupid idea:icon_ banana:

No you can not flash a kernel on any of the newer droids like the d2, dx, d2g, dx2 because the bootloader is encrypted.

Even if there was no locked bootloader, NO it would not be possible, or it would be possible to put it on the unit but it would be nothing but a brick after that!

If the Bootloader ever gets unlocked you won't need to put a D2 Kernel into the D2G, You would be putting Cyanogen on instead.

Why would you want the d2 kernal on the d2g anyways??? You realize it has a locked bootloader to, right?
