Issues With 2.2 after Rooting

Well all I am new to this entirely, and after reading some simple walkthroughs on rooting my phone after the 2.2 OTA update I was successful. After I rooted my phone by using the terminal emulator on the phone itself, it worked just fine. Yesterday, I plugged my phone in to my laptop running windows 7 and now I cannot change my notifications ringtone for any application be it facebook, handcent, e-mails. All it will bring up is the factory ringtones, which after being around 20 other people with droids, I need to have another ringtone. I get tired of looking at my phone when my co-workers goes off. Does anyone have any suggestions?
