issues with gallery

My wife took a picture on her D2 and the pic seemed to have disapeared, later on she found it in the gallery in a folder simply named "SD Card". She sent the pic via text to me then deleted the pic, the problem then arose that the folder and pic still showed in her gallery but after extensive searching we couldn't find where on the sd card the pic remains. After tranferring all the pics she wanted to her laptop she tried clearing gallery data. No the folder still remains but it shows the broken pic icon instead of the actual pic. Any ideas as to whwre that pic may have been hiding?

Using a file explorer or connecting the phone to a pc, you should be sale to do to the dcim folder, then camera folder. You may want to also look in the thumbnails folder too. That's if I'm reading your question right.
