Issues with portable charger

So I bought a portable batt charger from monoprice.com and i charged it up but my phone does not recognize that i plugged it in (aka doesn't say its charging) any ideas? it puts out 5vdc @ 800MAs and my regular changer only puts out 600MAs. it does the same with a couple other off brand chargers as well.

I have the same issue. My Droid X won't recharge when I plug in the Monoprice portable charger. However, when it is plugged in, my phone seems to be drawing power from the charger instead of the internal battery. I attached the charger and played videos on the phone for a couple hours and my phone's internal battery stayed at the same charge the whole time, while the capacity meter on the charger decreased. So, at least it does that.

Same issue here on original Droid. I did not test to see if it was actually draining from the portable battery rather than the regular one, but the UI certainly doesn't show it as charging. I'll have to play with it over the weekend.
