Thinking the boot issues are a result of the jb boot image. This is a theory that is probably wrong but the issue is effecting gsm and lte devices a like regardless of recovery.
What yall think or your theory.

I don't really know. I haven't had a problem yet.
What I do when going to a new version is
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe system(in advanced)
Wipe dalvik
Flash rom
Take a dump
Tada!
The end
Wait 10 mins for my account to restore all games and everything.
I don't use ti or anything anymore ( to many problems). I don't even make nandroids anymore. I just always keep a stable rom on my phone.

And I use recovery touch :)

Even when using a custom kernel though?
I think many are leaning toward the sdcard directory being different in jb is causing this
In ICS it was /mnt/sdcard in jb its /storage/sdcard0
It may be causing errors with restoring backups and just messing with recovery in general

Every time I try to use Franco kernel updater, my phone goes into a boot loop.
I have to flash this version of Franco kernel in order to fix. This or either flash the ROM again.
