Just Ordered mine for $189 VZW Website + Awesome Promo

Just ordered mine tonight through VZW Website. Listed price $189. So I decided to go for it. Also ordered an extended battery. When I added the phone to the cart, a message popped up saying that they are running a promotion, buy one get one free. My husband just bought one a couple days ago, as I said in my Intro to the forum. Would of been nice if they had that promo 2 days ago. Would of saved us some money! I almost told my husband of this discovery but decided not to cause he would of been a little upset to hear that. Currently he's really happy with his new phone don't wanna cause anything to come off his high. dancedroid:heart:dancedroid

Verizon will honor promotions/sales for 30 days following purchase. Go get the money back.

You could sell the extra one on ebay. $$$, and that would pay for hubby's D3. :) win-win

Well the problem with that is, that you can only get the free phone if someone else in your family plan is eligible for an upgrade. There are 4 people in our plan and only my husband and my mom were eligible to upgrade, but I used my mom's upgrade so that I can upgrade my phone sooner than April 2012.

I don't think the VZW Store will honor any promotions that VZW website offers. At our local store, they had their D3 priced at $250. I immediately questioned that and mentioned the fact that on the website it was only priced for $199. They told us that the reason why they were charging $250 vs $199 was because at the store they set up the phone for you as well as transfer your contact info etc from your old phone to your new phone. Sounded fishy to me but my husband wanted to get the D3 since it came out and Best Buy's local store isn't stocking it. Would be nice though if we were able to go back to the store and get some money back though.

O I got $179 off web until you know I'm 18 and despite have proven credit had to pay the whole phone on deposit...Gotta love the Credit Driven Society

Don't go in the store, call Verizon and explain that your husband just got his phone the other day and then you saw this promo. If the CSR won't help, ask to speak with a supervisor. They'll be able to see all of the account activity and should fix it for you.

Hmmm... thanks for the suggestion. It's certainly worth a try. I'll give them a call today. Wish me luck!

Nothing is for free, since if you do not have another discount on your account, you must get another line and pay $30 a month for a 2gb data plan- for two years. That equals $720 for a "free" phone, if a new line.

True, but that's not our case. We are on a family plan. 4 lines on our account. Two of them are eligible for upgrade, my husband's and my mom's. Since my upgrade isn't till April 2010, I'm going to use my mom's upgrade, to upgrade sooner and be able to get the Droid 3 for myself. My husband got his Droid 3, 3 days ago. I had to wait to get in contact with my mom to see if it was ok with her if I used her upgrade. So, no need of a new line or $30 for 2GB plan for me. My current phone is a Droid 2 and have unlimited data plan for $30. So, I am grandfathered in.

Well I called customer service and they said that since my husband didn't buy the phone through a corporate store and instead bought from an authorized dealer that the only way we can take advantage on the BOGO offer is for my husband to return the phone back to the store ($35 re-stocking fee) and then they will be able to order a Droid 3 for him for free since I placed my order during the promo. Now, the trick is, would my husband want to go down to the store, return the phone, reactivate his old phone... till the new Droid 3 arrives. AND of course pay the $35 re-stocking fee. The Rep that assisted me seemed to me he was trying his best to help us in this situation. He said he would call back in a couple of hours to see what my husband decided and he could place the order for us, if that's the route we felt comfortable taking.

Sigh, if only we waited a couple of days instead of jumping the gun. But when my husband wants something, he wants it then and there. Well, can't put it all on him, I'm the same way. Instant gratification. But, I think we learned our lessson. :lifting:

After seeing this thread I called up VZW customer service and explained to the rep that I placed an order for 2 D3's on the 7th (launch day) and at the time the BOGO promo wasn't advertised he looked over the promo and said well you bought 2 and did sign 2 new agreements so it makes you eligible for the promo so what ill do is give you a credit for the second line which was a credit of $199 and since I had the phones billed to the account that's where the credit went eating almost all of my current due bill all I did was roll over like $20 but I won't complain about that..

I am the account owner with 5 lines on a family plan, I had a NE2 upgrade available which gave me a $50 credit towards a phone so I got my Droid 3 for $149.99 but I really got 2 D3's for that price. My wife had an LG Ally so she already had the unlimited data so we both got grandfathered in and did not get effected by the new data plans.

The unfortunate thing is that we are both having random reboots with the new phones. I have not tried to figure out why but it shouldn't be happening. I'm really thinking about getting both of these phones swapped out for new ones while under the 14 day exchange period and trying the activation where we don't sync our existing apps and settings. Maybe that will help..

Anyway I just wanted to give you a BIG thank you for posting this, I probably would have missed out of getting a $200 refund because I don't visit the phone part of VZW site often unless I'm eyeing up a new phone.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal. My wife and I are on a family plan, and I was due for my new-every-2.

We ended up getting both phones for $169 dancedroid + like $70 in taxes :icon_evil:. They'll be here tomorrow, can't wait!
