just rooted! how to freeze apps?

So i dont want all these dumba$$ factory apps runnin in the back ground anymore. How do i freeze them? Ive heard about it but dont know how to do it. Thanks

for the record, the apps that came preinstalled with the rom does not really do much and freezing it wont help much either. why not just hide it to reduce clutter?...

Because any crap you can prevent from running in the background is somewhat beneficial? Sort of like disabling unnecessary Windows services on a PC. Not everyone does it, but a true performance enthusiast might. If you're not ever going to USE VZ Navigator ever, for example, why have even a tiny part of it running at all?
