just updated to GB...is it hard to upgrade from 588 to 595?

hey guys, i'm trying to get Netflix to work on my (unrooted)Droid X. I got the app to work but when i play a movie it just goes to a black screen and doesn't play. i've heard that i have to be on version 595. i checked my version and i'm on 588. Is it difficult to upgrade to 595? Is there a step by step list out there somewhere? i've read i need to use Clockwork and Boostrapper but as a newbie i'm not sure what that means?

Eventually i plan on rooting my phone so i can create a mobile hot spot with my droid without having to pay the rediculous $20 charge that Verizon is charging.

To upgrade you would have to use gingerbreak to root then install D2 bootstrapper then download and flash .595

Or

You could just download this netflix app http://goo.gl/FPEF4 that has new device check disabled and it should work. To download you need to have an xda account so just sign in or create an account.

Well if you want root and want to flash .595 then you can go here http://goo.gl/pmprH and download gingerbreak and follow the instructions to root.

Then go here http://goo.gl/0PGiW and download .595 and follow the instructions on how to flash. A wipe of data and cache is always recommended.

ok, so i rooted my DX...588...i installed Titanium and backed up...installed Droid 2 Bootstrapper...backed up.

I downloaded 595-Deodexed.zip from New Leak and Official upgrade Path to Gingerbread

a couple of questions...do i copy the zip file to the root directory of the sdcard? then use Droid 2 Bootstrapper to boot to Clockwork Recovery and "install zip from sdcard"?

do i really have to wipe data/factory reset? is there anything i'm missing?

Its easier than installing .588. Just copy the zip file to your SD card, install the zip, do a factory data wipe for good measure and then reboot. Its that simple. Use the DROID2 bootstrap.

i'm already on .588. can i install .595 over .588? this is gonna be a stupid question i do a data wipe after i install? and how do i get my data back...restore with Titanium? sorry this is my first time...lol

Yes just wipe date/factory reset and install the .495 and reboot and your good.
And yes back up titanium or mybackup.

Mhmm try it again do a factory reset again and flash .588 and then .595.
See if that works
