My company is allowing us all to work from home this week and next. I had given my cell number to a co-worker to call me. She messaged me and asked for a different number, as she said it rang to voice mail. My phone never rang, and I did not show a missed call. I thought that was stange, so I unplugged my Razr from the USB, looked at it, and called it from my home line. It rang. Tried again, and it didn't ring. So I've just been having people call me on my home line.
Well, today, I looked down and saw that I had a voice mail, although the phone did not ring. I did a little experimenting, and this is what I've found...I have a time tracker app on my phone, which I use to switch amongst various customer projects throughout the day. So I keep my phone on the desk, just to the right of my laptop. When the phone is there, I do not receive voice calls. I still get texts and other notifications. If I move it away, or even place it on the left side of the laptop, I get calls.
I assume it's the laptop's WiFi blocking the cell signal? Since I do have WiFi, all of my texts and notifications do come through. I'm pretty new to smartphones, since I refuse to call the Blackberry I recently switched from smart. Is this one of those things that everyone already knows about?
