I received an e-mail from Swype that the pre-September version of Swype would be deactivated and that I need to re-download and install the latest Swype Installer. So I went ahead and uninstalled both Swype and the Swype Installer from my phone. I opened my e-mail from my phone containing the link to the download site. I downloaded the Swype Installer and logged in to download the actual app, but I get an error message that says "Swype Installer is expired. Login at beta.swype.com to get a new version."

Does anyone else have this problem? Did anyone install the latest version successfully?

I have had the beta Swype since it was released... I haven't gotten the e-mail you have.

Not to be snarky, but have to tried going to beta.swype.com and logging in?

Just got the email as well. Will try to update and post the results.

OP, I'm in the same boat as you. All the Installer does is throw an error that it's outdated, with instructions to go download the new version—from the exact URL where I got the app to begin with. I don't know what's up, but I'm guessing they haven't updated the Swype Installer download. I'll try again every now and then and report back if/when it works.

Same problem... Droid with 2.2 from OTA. I'm not rooted or rom'd.

I did read it, but missed that key fact. No snarky-ness taken :)

UPDATE... will be fixed within 24 hours

Just received an email from Swype:

"We are in the process of rolling out a new version right now. Looks like some of you got the new downloader before we had the new Swype package ready to go. Please be patient and you will receive an email within the next 24hrs to let you know the update is available for you! "

Oh! No! 24hours without Swype!

Idiots. Now I am Swype-less until they get their act together. lol

Well, I guess we just have to wait until they get things sorted out. No biggie. :)

On another note, I'm thinking of trying out SlideIT.

September Swype Beta Update Issues

Ok, so there is a new Swype Beta out for September. I uninstalled the previous version as well as the installer. I visit the link in my email, download the new installer, and open it. Takes me to the login screen. After that, I click on Download... but I get the "installer has expired" message. But this is the latest one. Anyone else have this problem? Running BBv0. 4.

Just got it too. Got the "expired" message as well.

We'll all wait until it's sorted out I guess.

BTW: I've been using the stock 2.2 virtual keyboard more than Swype lately. I love the word prediction and after Swyping for 9 months now, I still find a keyboard layout to be more intuitive and faster.

I got the email today as well. I unistalled and downloaded the new version. First time I installed I was able to login and download the app. After It downloaded it gave me a "SWYPE is already Installed" message. I was unable to use it at that point. I went back and unistalled bot the installer and main program. I then hooked up my phone through USB and went into my download folder and erased any swype installer or left over .apk files I have had on there from other versions. Once that was done I re-downloaded the installer from the email and everything worked once I got it to install. Now to do this on my Wife's phone when she gets back tonight.

So far everything looks the same and is still very responsive.

Currently running Sapphire 1.1 on my D1.

No worries, we're all friends here :)

And I don't know about anyone else, but I just tried it again and everything went peachily. I'm rocking Swype version 2.4.44.10912 and loving it!
