i have an unrooted droid x. i downloaded the leaked version of gingerbread about two months ago. once i updated it i could not recieve my email updates even though i tried push and fetch to no avail. i was so frustrated i did a factory wipe to get back to default settings. when i turned my phone back on, i had lost all of my apps and had to set up my phone again but it still kept the leaked gingerbread ota. it did not roll back to froyo, which is what i want. i have not recieved the factory gingerbread roll out. at this point i do not think that i will with the leaked gingerbread verson. also the apps that i lost do not show under my apps in the android marketplace. there are some apps that i know should be in marketplace that when i look for say not found. such as tv.com and netflix. my biggest question is ive read about sbf. which i believe i will have to do. nut my phone is unrooted, and i want it to stay that way. how can i rollback to froyo? also why can i not download apps that are available for android?

system verion is 4.5.588
android version 2.3.3
build number 4.5.1_57_dx5-18

The only way to get back to froyo is to sbf and you don't need root to do it. You will probably have to do a factory reset after the sbf so back up your stuff. As far as your apps go Netflix was never in the market for the droid x and tv.com is still there for me.

So Ive been reading on the internet. But I really don't understand how to sbf. I don't know what a bootstrap is either. What do I actually use to keep it unrooted?

You need to sbf. That will return it to out of the box Froyo.

There are tons of writeup about it and youtube videos. I recommend you do your research about it, watch a youtube video or 2 and if you still have questions, come back here. Its really very simple.
