Some new training materials were leaked from inside HTC, and they make it obvious that HTC executives expected to be called "copycats" for the new One A9. The slide basically attempts to train employees how to preempt any argument of HTC copying by pointing out that the iPhone 6 copied some of HTC's designs first.
This isn't new, and many of our own members here on the forums have pointed that out as well. Still, we expect that it will be a tough sell to any consumers who have never seen the older HTC smartphones (or who don't remember them). Also, most smartphone consumers have no idea who Hugo Barra is, so this seems like a pointless argument as well.
Perhaps these training mats were for internal use only to mitigate arguments from within HTC's own ranks of executives. Either way, HTC knew that it was coming, yet they still built a smartphone which doesn't just take one design element from the iPhone 6... it takes almost ALL of them. What a shame...
