LED behind the 4 physical keys

Any one found a way to turn off the LEDs behind the 4 physical keys? Mine stays in a case most of the time so i can not see them during the day. At night they are the brightest things in the room and the dimmer does not dim the keys just the screen. Any help ?

My keys turn off after a few minutes of no use.

This worked for me on a rooted droid1. there is an option in the app to turn off the lights your are talking about, and it can make the screen dimmer.

Not sure if it will work on the DX put it's worth a shot.
