Does anyone know if there is an app out there that will allow you to change the color of the LED notification light on the Moto Droid? Preferably a FREE app that can do this...

I am kinda getting tired of the pale green LED, and would like to change it to another color...

Thanks, but I don't think that is what I'm looking for...I'm looking for an app that will let me change the color of the LED for things such as text message and email notifications.

jt, download missed call. It does allow you to configure different colored LED for different notifications. Missed call is a free app so if it does not meet your need simple delete.

I use 3 programs to get my LED configured the way I want.

Missed Call- call colors, can set generic call color, as well as caller specific colors
Gmail Notifier- set gmail colors, cant set sender specific
Handcent- use for texting, and can set specific sender colors

For example, here is what that gives me

Missed calls show orange, but when my fiancee calls, they show purple.
gmails show light blue
imap emails show green (the standard green)
texts show dark blue, but fiancee texts are purple

thats pretty much enough to know exactly what is waiting for me just by the led

I've got Handcent and Missed Call, and for each one I have been able to select an overal notification color. For both of them, though, I can't seem to find a setting where I can set sender/caller-specific colors. Where do I find that? thanks--

For Handcent you have to open a conversation with the person you want to personalize the notifications for, then click on the little person/gear icon in the upper right. It'll pop up with a list of options.

Yep. And for missed call, after you add a call service (which you have already done if you can edit the general colors) go to the "call service" screen where it shows a star and says "general settings". Click the menu button then "add contact" thats where you can make an individual profile for each caller.

Ah--thanks to both of you. Very helpful.

Downloaded Handcent and it is a great app. Was definitely more than I was looking for, but it is definitely better than the default Messaging app. Love it, and especially the pop-up quick reply box...saves a lot of time when replying to messages.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Missed call is simply the title of the app, it is not only for "missed calls". It will suit all your needs jury fine without having to download several other apps for a mere led change.

Try it out.
