Early this morning in India, Lenovo revealed their next generation of the affordable Moto G line. We now have three new 4th gen versions of the Moto G, and here are the details:

Moto G4 -
  • 1080p 5.5-inch
  • Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB or 32GB of storage (microSD slot included)
  • 3,000mAh battery and "TurboPower" functionality for fast charging
  • 13-megapixel front sensor that can shoot 1080p video
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Customizable on Moto Maker
Moto G4 Plus -
  • 1080p 5.5-inch
  • Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor
  • 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM
  • 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage (microSD slot included)
  • 3,000mAh battery and "TurboPower" functionality for fast charging
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture; with "big pixels" and laser and phase detection autofocus - supposedly a better camera than the iPhone 6S
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Customizable on Moto Maker
Moto G4 Play - (not all details were shared)
  • 5-inch 720p display
  • Snapdragon 410 processor
  • 2,800mAh battery
  • 8-megapixel sensor.
  • Last year's G waterproofing has been replaced with "splash proofing"
Initially these devices will launch in India and Brazil first, but eventually they will filter out to the UK and the US as well. Pricing is around £169 ($244) for the regular and £199 ($287) for the Plus.

Here's a G4 video:

Just based on specs alone why would anyone buy the g4+? Same processor, some apparently the same amount of ram other than the modified camera it's seems like the same phone.

I would love to buy a g4 plus with 4gb of ram if it had a bigger battery. I used to buy only flagship phones, but I have come to realize that I just don't do anything that requires that fast of a processor. I do like to have a lot of ram so that when i'm multi tasking the apps in the background don't close
