Linking / syncing contacts? Help?

I had an HTC EVO for a couple of years on Sprint. The rest of my family is on Verizon, and they talked me into switching and getting an iphone 4s. I had it for two weeks, and just didn't like it. The screen was too small, and seemed kind of boring. I returned it and got a RAZR Maxx. I like it better, but my contacts wont sync. I don't want all my facebook contacts, gmail contacts, and phone contacts as separate entries. I would like to have them linked like they were on EVO, but can't figure out how to do it.
Help???

Edit a contact. Press the menu button and you should see join/ separate

Thank You! Such an easy thing to do! Seems like there are tons of things this phone can do, but not much direction on
how to use it.

I feel the same way in that the documentation on the phone is poor, but the info in these forums is great!
