Long-pressing search key doesn't bring up voice search with keyboard slid out

So, is this just me? Or are others having problems opening voice search with a long press on the magnifying glass when the keyboard is slid out? (Once I take my finger off the key, the standard search box that comes up from a regular press of the search key is what I see.)

It works just like it's supposed to in portrait mode.

Thanks -- good to know it's not just me (though I would like to know if anyone is actually able to do this). I thought maybe I should be long-pressing the keyboard search key instead, but that didn't work either. Oh well.
