Looking for a compose email shortcut

Hi all
I'd like a quick way to open to "compose an email". Is there a shortcut or widget/app that will do this. I don't want it to open to a specific contact. I'd like it to open to a blank "to" field similar to pressing "C" on my old blackberry.
